　　主題思想題的設題目的在于考查考生對文章的主題、標題、中心思想的理解程度以及區別主要信息和次要信息的能力，四級寒假補習講座（9）。常見的提問方式有:

　　(3) What is the author’s purpose in writing the passage?

　　當試題提問的是文章主題時,要把注意力放在主要信息上。通常的辦法是①快速閱讀文章,找出各段主題句。把各段主題句聯起來,一般即得出文章主題。②分析備選答案,正確答案與干擾項之間有較明顯的差別。一般而言,干擾項相對前者內容更具體,或者較片面或者過于籠統。

　　綜合推斷題主要考查考生讀出字里行間含義的能力([WTBX]to read between the lines)。常見的提問方式有:
